HAIR/MAKEUP DESIGNER

AS THE HAIR/MAKEUP DESIGNER, YOU WILL DESIGN THE HAIR STYLES AND MAKEUP FOR EACH PRODUCTION IN COORDINATION WITH THE DIRECTOR’S VISION OF THE SHOW. 

THIS POSITION IS HIRED THROUGH TIP AND IS ASSIGNED TO EACH SHOW.

THIS POSITION SELECTS THE HAIR AND MAKEUP SUPERVISOR FOR EACH SHOW.

Once you have signed on to the show

  • Read the script (if you haven’t already) and discuss hair and makeup needs and vision with the director. 

  • Attend Production meetings as needed.

  • Accept SharePoint access from TIP staff.  SharePoint is the only file share product that can be used due to county IT restrictions.

Auditions/Call Backs

  • No duties

Pre-Rehearsal

  • In collaboration with stage management, maintain a "scene by scene" list of required hair/makeup changes

  • Determine hair/makeup crew needs and procure appropriate volunteers.

Rehearsals

  • Coordinate visits with cast with SM as necessary.

  • Cast information should be sent prior to move in through SM.

Tech Week

  • Attend all tech and dress rehearsals following the provided schedule. 

  • Work with directing team, TIP staff, and vendors to ensure all elements of production are in place and respectfully communicate concerns and changes in production meetings following tech rehearsals.

  • Coordinate with stage management the storage and handling of all wigs and specialty makeup if a hair and makeup representative will not be at every performance.

Performances

  • Remain in contact with hair/makeup volunteers to discuss concerns and needed repairs.

  • Read performance reports nightly and arrange for maintenance of wigs when necessary.

Strike

  • Ensure all wigs, hairpieces, and specialty makeup pieces are collected and returned to appropriate parties.

Post Show

  • No duties
