MUSIC DIRECTOR

 

AS THE MUSIC DIRECTOR, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • TEACHING AND REHEARSING ALL MUSIC IN THE PRODUCTION. 

  • WORK WITH THE PRODUCTION TEAM TO ENSURE THE OVERALL CONTINUITY OF THE MUSICAL CONTENT OF THE PRODUCTION.

INTERPRETATION OF THE MUSICAL SCORE IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MUSIC DIRECTOR IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE CHOREOGRAPHER FOR THE PRODUCTION’S DANCE SEQUENCES.

Once you have signed on to the show

  • Read the script (if you haven’t already) and discuss music needs with director.

  • Rehearsal space comes with an upright piano and a music stand. 

  • Accept SharePoint access from TIP staff.  SharePoint is the only file share product that can be used due to county IT restrictions.

  • Complete Volunteer with Stipend paperwork in a timely manner

Auditions/Call Backs

  • Selection of call back music, discuss with director.

  • Attend auditions and call backs. 

Pre-Rehearsal

  • Coordinate rehearsal schedule with Director and Stage Management

  • Attend Production Meetings and other meetings as needed.

Rehearsals

  • Teach and review music with cast members. 

  • Continually discuss scheduling with Director and SM to teach and review thorough out the process.

  • Coordinate with Stage Management and Conductor to communicate approved music adjustments.

  • Complete Singer by Song list by due date.

Tech Week

  • Attend all tech and dress rehearsals following the provided schedule. 

  • Work with directing team, TIP staff, and vendors to ensure all elements of production are in place and respectfully communicate concerns and changes in production meetings following tech rehearsals.

Performances

  • Attend Opening Night.

  • No duties

Post Show

  • No duties
