SCENIC DESIGNER

AS THE SCENIC DESIGNER, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR DESIGNING ALL SCENIC ELEMENTS FOR THE PRODUCTION.

THIS POSITION IS HIRED THROUGH TIP AND IS ASSIGNED TO EACH SHOW.

Once you have signed on to the show
  • Read the script (if you haven’t already) and discuss hair and makeup needs and vision with the director. 
  • Attend Production meetings as needed.
  • Accept SharePoint access from TIP staff.  SharePoint is the only file share product that can be used due to county IT restrictions.

  • No duties
Pre-Rehearsal
  • The Scenic Designer shall design the setting and render the following services, as required for each production covered under this agreement: 
    • Sketches or sketch model(s) of the settings. 3D Model(s) can either be White Model or CAD format. 
    • Working drawings, specifications for construction and color schemes/sketches by the date specified. This is to include ground plans, elevations / color elevations, and scenic plots.
  • Designs for properties required for the production, including all set dressing.  Meet with Props Designer for cohesive design collaboration.  
  • Design and/or coordinate special scenic effects for the production, including but not limited to slides and projections.
Rehearsals
  • Read and respond to rehearsal report questions/requests

Tech Week
  • Attend all tech and dress rehearsals (as requested).
Performances/Strike/Post Show
  • No duties.
